Who we are
The PotCats and The Doppler D-Effect is a digital and independent music platform for entertainment and promotion of alternative and experimental sounds. Our website address is: https://www.thepotcats.com. We are the first and only “Radio on Text” in the history of the internet and we focus on music as the highest expression of the human mind. As sick listeners and selectors we want to share non-standard, out-of-the-box music with the world and to create content to help non-standard creators, artists and producers to reach a wider public as well as to provide the people the opportunity to discover new high quality music. We want to share sounds that have beneficial effects on the listeners as well as on the creators.
Information We Collect and Why
We believe in data minimization. We do not have user registration or login systems, and we do not sell products directly on this site. However, we collect data in the following ways:
- Artist Submissions & Contact: If you are an artist and contact us for promotion, interviews, or “Potcats Tales,” we collect the information you provide (name, stage name, email, social media links, and press kits) solely to manage the promotional content and communication with you.
- Comments: When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how our audience interacts with our different “Conceptual Selections” (hashtags). This helps us improve our content. Google Analytics collects data such as your IP address, device type, and which pages you visit, but this data is aggregated and does not personally identify you to us.
Cookies
Analytics Cookies: These allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and see how they move around our website.
Comment Cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name and email in cookies for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again. These last for one year.
Third-Party Cookies: Our website features embedded content (see below), which may set their own cookies.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles and radio streams on this site include embedded content, primarily from YouTube (as we are “Powered by YouTube”).
Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website (e.g., your Google/YouTube account).
You can review YouTube’s Privacy Policy here: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Data is only shared in the following cases:
- Service Providers: With tools like Google Analytics (for site traffic) and automated spam detection services for comments.
- Public Promotion: For artists, the information you explicitly provide for promotion (bio, photos, music links) will be made public on our platform as part of our promotional service.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments or have been featured as an artist on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
